Kaylor Bird Harness

Anytime that you can take your bird outdoors safely with a bird harness on is a huge experience for your parrot.  

Even if you think that your bird can't or won't fly off, IT CAN!  

A pet bird can become startled and take flight in an instant if it feels unsafe, if it see's an overhead object or what ever! The most innoculous things can startle your bird and be a death sentence.  Even the most innocent experience can freak your bird out. It's a horrible experience when your tame bird becomes so frightened that it's instinctual characteristics take over and it flies off.  It happens all the time.  We had it happen with a beautiful macaw that we tried for months to recover.  That is why we completely advocate the use of bird harneses.  Don't scrimp on $40 bird harness and risk loosing your bird. Now, we never take your birds outside without a bird harness on.

Many areas of the U.S. have a prevelant wild falcon prescense.  You don't want your precious pet to succomb to the terror of this predator. Keep your bird safe with a bird harness.  Even so, if you live in an area like we do - be extremely cautious in your outdoor endeavors.  

Your bird may love the enrichment of outdoor adventures and soak up the vitamin D rich benefits of sun light, these benefits must be weighed with the potential problems of outdoor experiences.  

• Study the predatory patterns of falcons in your area if you wish to take your bird outside.  These birds adhere to a daily schedule so plan your walks for the times they are resting.  
• Travel in two's.  If you take your bird outside with a bird harness, make sure that you have a second party who can observe and caution when and if a predatory bird stalks your pet.  If hawks are present, pull your bird close to your chest and head home.
