|Parrot Feather Plucking Help|
Feather plucking has many causes so, please, ALWAYS take your feather plucking parrot to the vet to determine if the problem is medical in nature, i.e. infections, fungus, bacterial infections or even "seed junkie" malnutrition VS. Behavioral
Our Healthy Feather Pack has been developed especially for parrot feather plucking that has been determined to be "behavioral" in nature. This Feather Plucking Pack helps you address feather picking from multiple angles:
What Causes Behavioral Feather Plucking?
This Feather Plucking Starter Pack addresses behaviorally related feather plucking problems.
NUTRITION: We combine three superior nutritional supplements to get the body systems properly balanced for good feather production. Featheriffic, a feather growth and skin conditioning supplement, with Avivita, a parrot multivitamin, for optimum bird nutrition. Aviflax is a tasty grain that contains Omega 3 fatty acids that make for beautiful feathers. A bird that plucks is constantly growing new feathers so its body uses up nutrients needed for healthy, vibrant feathers and instead produces scraggly, ill shapen feathers.
ANXIETY: Next, we address anxiety with AviCalm, a Natural Green Tea based homeopathic calming agent that safely calms your parrot.
HABIT + IRRITATION:If your parrot has developed a feather plucking habit (similar to nail biting or cheek biting in people) as a result from itchy irritated skin and a habit, than NO PICK is the answer. This safe and natural, yet awful tasting compound contains Aloevera to soothe irritation from new feather growth. Imagine irritated, sore feather follicles as being about as irritating as an infected pimple (sorry for the visual graphic). No Pick soothes the follicles where feathers grow from. If your bird has engaged in skin tearing behavior, please add the Avix Skin Soother Ointment to deter infection.
Keep in mind that a normal parrot regenerates feathers twice a year so it may take a few months for you to see results with the Feather Plucking Starter Pack.
Each Healthy Feather Pack for Parrots includes:
In answer to your question, NO our vet did not find a medical reason for Sugar's feather picking. What you say makes so much sense. We do give Sugar tons of attention, although really reactive when he is picking and not nearly as "fun for him" when he's biting his chest. We will change this immediately! Thanks for the Good Bird link.
I wonder if you can cancel my order #XXXX. I will order your Healthy Feather Pack immediately.
