Bird Food for Lory's and Lorikeets Lories are physiologically different than other parrots in that their bodies are designed to consume a diet of nectar, pollen, fruit, and bugs. Their brush tongue is perfectly suited to gathering of nectar and pollen from flowers. Lories ventriculous or gizzard is less muscular than that of other parrots. Lories should not eat hard, dry bird food that other parrots eat.
Most lory owners find that the lories are healthier, happier and live longer when the bird food they feed their lory is lory nectar. Goldenfeast Nectargold is a nectar based powder that is ideal for all lory species.
Foods to avoid: Below are listed some food items that should be avoided at all costs as they are detrimental to your Lory's well being and could lead to a very ill Lory or even a dead Lory.
