Load Cell Technology
Sterling Bird Scales are the most accurate technology on the market today for keeping track of pet birds weight. This bird scale has a self-adjusting weighing mechanism that automatically zeros itself out, so that the next time the bird scale is used, it remains at a constant cell voltage, thereby ensuring maximum accuracy, use after use. This bird scale has a true electronic mechanism, compared to a spring mechanism with digital readout on cheaper bird scales.
Installing the battery in the Avian Hobbiest Bird Scale
1. Use only a 9V alkaline battery, sold separately.
2. Place battery in the compartment located on the bottom of the scale.
3. Attach the battery to the connector by attaching the positive pole of the battery (+) to the (+) side of the connector and the negative pole (-) to the (-).
Turning Unit On/Off
1. Place the scale on a smooth, solid surface and press the ON/TARE button.
2. A running "8" will appear on the display.
3. Wait until "0" appears on the display.
4. Place your parrot the T-perch. Your birds weight will appear on the d display.
5. In order to prolong battery life of the bird scale, push the "OFF" button immediately after use. After non-use for 30 seconds, the scale will switch off automatically.
TARE function
This function is ideal for weighing a bird on the T-perch.
Position the container or perch on the scale and press the ON/TARE button.
Weigh the first item. If you have another bird, or group of items to be weighed in the bowl, press the ON/TARE button again.
Wait until "0" appears on the display, then place the next item in the container or the bird on the perch. The display will then show the weight of the second item(s).
Indicators
- "LO" Indicates low battery power (replace battery)
- "----" If this symbol appears, press the ON/TARE button to bring the display back to "0"
- "Err" Overweight indicator (the weight exceeds the maximum capacity of the scale)
- Technical Data
- Maximum Capacity: 3 kilograms (6.614 lbs)
- Precision: 1 gram (28.3495
grams = 1 oz)
- Note: Scale weighs in
grams only
Care and maintenance
- Always use a 9V Alkaline battery
- Use the scale on a sturdy, smooth surface
- Do not use the scale
in the immediate vicinity of strong emitters such as mobile phones or microwave ovens
- Do not overload the scale
- Clean your scale with
a damp cloth and never use chemical or abrasive cleaners
- Do not leave the scale
in a damp or wet environment
If you are going to be weighing a large number of birds, or frequently weighing large macaws, we recommend using the Sterling Professional Scale Kit.
